The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and L&J Construction are continuing work to rehabilitate the U.S. Highway 89 (US 89) bridges at Interstate 90 (I-90) Exits 337 and 340 near Livingston.
On Tuesday, May 12, crews will be pouring new concrete bridge deck (driving surface) on the Exit 337 bridge sometime between the early morning and midday. During this work, motorists can expect longer than usual delays of 15 minutes or more. MDT recommends seeking an alternate route if these delays will have a major impact on your travel.
This work was originally planned for Thursday, May 7, but unforeseen circumstances delayed it.
Single-lane traffic will continue over the bridge with brief delays once standard work resumes the following day, Wednesday, May 13.
During construction, motorists should expect:
- Reduced speed limits
- Temporary signals or flaggers directing traffic at times
- Temporary lane closures
- A 10-foot width restriction on the bridges (Visit 511mt.net for up-to-date information on width restrictions for individual structures)
- Detours at Exit 340 for US 89 traffic
A detour route for US 89 traffic at Exit 340 is in place. Both on- and off-ramps at the interchange remain open, but the bridge connecting the two sides will be closed during construction. Please follow the posted detour signage if necessary for your route. Do not use the authorized turnarounds near the interchange if you are not an authorized emergency vehicle.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and L&J Construction are rehabilitating four bridges in the Livingston area.
Construction began the week of April 13 on the U.S. Highway 89 (US 89) bridges over Interstate 90 (I-90) at Exit 337 and Exit 340. Next week crews will begin hydromilling and cleaning both the bridge decks (driving surfaces), weather and other factors permitting. Construction on these two bridges is anticipated to take a few months to complete.
Following completion of work on these bridges, crews will begin construction on the US 89 bridge over the Yellowstone River north of Exit 340 and on the Carter's Bridge on East River Road. These two bridges are anticipated to take less time to rehabilitate.

- Temporary signals or flaggers directing traffic at times
