Transportation Planner

This position serves as a Traffic Safety Transportation Planner in the Grants Bureau. Along with other highway safety related issues this position will manage passenger safety programs. This position continuously multi-tasks by supporting the development and implementation of other traffic safety related projects that ensures the Bureau meets deadlines and obligations of traffic safety federal agencies. The incumbent has both programmatic and fiscal responsibilities of projects that support the statewide Comprehensive Highway Traffic Safety Plan emphasis areas and the Governor’s Highway Safety Plan (HSP). This includes coordinating traffic safety initiatives with State, Local, and Tribal agencies and encouraging their participation in the CHSP. This involves establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with various traffic stakeholders including sheriffs, county commissioners, judges, mayors, and other elected officials. The incumbent acquires various sources of funding for the state’s traffic safety program by developing and submitting grant applications for submission to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
