Statewide Environmental Engineering Specialist

This position is an Environmental/Civil Engineer Specialist. The position is commonly referred to as the Statewide Environmental Engineering Specialist (SEES). Conducts specialized testing procedures at preconstruction and construction sites. This position requires working with soils, wet concrete and hot plant mix both in the materials lab and on highway construction projects using AASHTO and ASTM test methods. Skill in intermediate math is essential in conjunction with data entry into computer programs. Familiarity with electronic scanning, email, excel, work or other computer programs will also be essential skills to learn as well as keeping a diary of each day’s work. The position sometimes requires being away from home, overnight, often for days and working more than 8 hours in a day especially in summer months. It requires safe repeated lifting and carrying objects up to 70 pounds.
