PR Contract Manager - Engineering Division

Surveyor II

Montana Department of Transportation is currently recruiting for a Surveyor II in the Billings District. This position is covered by the Surveyor Career Ladder. Placement is based upon work experience, education, and LSI certification. Below are the descriptions for the Surveyor II and III. Surveyor II. The position is responsible for performing advanced technical and professional field survey work; serving as party chief for field surveys; reviewing surveys to determine the validity of the evidence and methods used and to ensure accurate survey information; maintaining equipment and inventories; and performing other duties as assigned. The position reports directly to the Land Survey Manager or District Land Survey Manager. Surveyor III- The position is responsible for planning and performing professional survey work. Examples of duties include: organizing and overseeing straightforward survey projects, signing off on uncomplicated survey projects, analyzing evidence to determine boundary locations, staking/monumenting property boundaries, coordinating survey reviews to ensure quality, consistency, efficiency, and compliance with established standards and policies, making professional level survey calculations, carrying out complex drafting, providing training to field survey crews and coordinating the operation and maintenance of survey equipment within the Unit. The Survey III is in responsible charge of all survey work being performed under their PLS license. The position reports to the Land Survey Manager or District Land Survey Manager. Structural Engineer (Bridge - CE/PE)

This position is a professional level structural design engineer. The Engineer is assigned final design work, design review work, and final bridge plan checking on a project level basis and is responsible for all work with minimal guidance and direction from the Bridge Area Engineer. The Engineer also is assigned preliminary design work. The preliminary design work may be done in conjunction with the Bridge Area Engineer or be assigned in terms of the general results expected.
