Traffic Safety Programs
Traffic Enforcement
Enforcement is one of the five “E’s” of traffic safety (education, enforcement, emergency services, engineering and evaluation). Law enforcement strategies are woven throughout all of MDT’s traffic safety goals including impaired driving, occupant protection, young drivers and motorcycle safety.
MDT provides funding for law enforcement patrols focusing on impaired driving and occupant protection laws. Details regarding our programs and funding opportunities are located below under Programs.
Our goal is:
Decrease Speed-related Fatalities
- To decrease speed-related fatalities by 3%, from the 2014-2018 five year rolling average of 66 to 64 by December 31, 2025.
