December 2022

At this time, the Roberts to Boyd project is on hold pending approval of the scope of work, which outlines the design and construction activities required to complete the project.

Project funding has yet to be secured; therefore, construction start dates have yet to be determined. We will be sure to update you if this changes.

September 2022

The previously mentioned field surveys underway in the Boyd area are now nearly complete, and the findings are being processed. The scope of work that outlines the design and construction activities to be completed is also under review. The next step will be for staff to begin work on the Plan in Hand – the stage where design plans become largely complete aside from minor adjustments within individual plots of land.

May 2022

Engineers have finalized the environmental assessment and Finding Of No Significant Impact (FONSI), two needed documents that indicate that no significant environmental impacts are expected to occur through this project. Staff will soon begin work on the Plan in Hand – the stage where design plans become mostly complete aside from minor adjustments within individual plots of land.

Residents may continue to notice workers in the Boyd area conducting survey work over the next few months. If you see workers on the road, please reduce speeds and give them space. We appreciate your help!

February 2022

The project team is currently updating environmental documents and conducting geotechnical work, which involves studying the earth and composition of soils around the roadway. Once they finish, they will edit and refine design plans. The next major milestone after this work is the Plan in Hand. This is where design plans are more detailed and considered 80% complete. We anticipate starting this milestone by the summer.

Residents may notice workers in the Boyd area conducting survey work on the side of the roadway over the coming months. Please provide space for these workers and reduce speeds as needed. Thank you for helping our staff remain safe!

For those unfamiliar, the Roberts to Boyd project involves eight miles of reconstruction and rehabilitation of US 212 from north of Cooney Road in Roberts to north of Boyd Cooney Dam Road in Boyd. The highway will be widened to include eight-foot shoulders, passing lanes, and updated intersections at Boyd Cooney Dam Road and Main Street in Boyd. A number of changes will also occur to improve sight distance and drainage. The highway’s slope will be redesigned to improve snow drifting and sight distance. Ditches are also being redesigned to improve drainage and snow storage, and irrigation ditches will be relocated out of the new right-of-way, where feasible. New drainage and irrigation culverts will be installed, and bridge deck repairs will occur at the Rock Creek Bridge by Clear Creek Road.
