Crews will be working on widening the new southbound couplet, the short segment of roadway connecting 1st Avenue to US Highway 93 (US 93), from Round Butte Road to behind the Dairy Queen next week.
Construction of the sub-base of the new northbound lanes of US 93 is also underway.
Work on the new alignment of 3rd Avenue at the intersection with US 93 is wrapping up, and traffic will begin traveling on the new alignment early next week.
It is anticipated that there will be fewer traffic delays when traveling through the construction zone going forward; however, flaggers will still be present at the truck turnarounds at the Round Butte Road/Terrace Lake Road and Old US 93/3rd Avenue intersections.
Next week, crews will be working Monday to Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Other work planned on the project site includes installing a pipe at the intersection of Old US 93/3rd Avenue and US 93 and the continued construction of the new approach for US 93 to Lake Seed in preparation for the closure of Spring Creek Road at US 93.

This week, pavement preservation work from just north of Ronan to north of Pablo will kick off with crack sealing. In addition, signpost installation and bridge deck sealing (concrete, water repellent sealant) will begin on US 93. Traffic control will be present. Riverside Contracting will ramp up construction activity on the Ronan-North US Highway 93 (US 93) project over the next four weeks.
The goal is to complete all work requiring single-lane traffic before the Memorial Day holiday weekend and the busy summer season. Over the holiday weekend and for the remaining duration of construction, at least two lanes of traffic, one southbound and one northbound, will be maintained.
To progress the project quickly and achieve this goal, crews will work on-site Monday to Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. until the holiday weekend, weather permitting.
Drivers should anticipate traveling on a gravel surface for a longer period and one-lane traffic resulting in travel delays of up to 15 minutes. Left turns will be prohibited in certain areas.

Crews will also start milling the roadway and shoulder of the northbound lane, the east side of the highway, starting at the south end of the project. Due to this work, drivers should anticipate shifting traffic lanes and transitioning to and from gravel surfaces.
Also, embankment operations will be underway on the west side of US 93 at Baptiste Road and the northbound side of the couplet, the short, 600-foot two-lane segment connecting 1st Avenue to US 93, just north of the Round Butte Road and US 93 intersection. A new approach to Lake Seed from US 93 is also being constructed in preparation for the closure of Spring Creek Road at US 93 later this year. North of the US 93 and Round Butte Road/Terrace Lake Road intersection, across from Dairy Queen, crews are also constructing a new storm drain.

Roadwork will begin next week on the Ronan-North US Highway 93 (US 93) project! Construction will be completed in three phases, starting with widening the west half of the road to include two new southbound lanes.
This first phase will be underway with Riverside Contracting excavating the south side of the roadway at the project’s north end.
Traffic will continue to travel on the current highway during the first phase of construction.
In phase two, the northbound lanes will be constructed on the east side of the highway. During this phase, drivers will be traveling on a gravel surface. In preparation for this phase, excavating operations will also begin this week on the east side next to the highway.
Crews will also be installing culverts throughout the project area. Construction of a new approach off US 93 for Lake Seed will begin in preparation for the closure of Spring Creek Road at US 93 later this year.
Drivers should plan for short delays when traveling through the project area. Traffic control will be in place, including traffic flaggers and reduced speeds.
Riverside Contracting crews plan to work double shifts to progress the project quickly. Weather permitting, work will occur from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
The final phase will involve paving, road marking installation, and finishing work. The project is expected to be completed this year; however, this schedule is subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen factors.

In preparation for construction in 2023, Riverside Contracting will start clearing surface and underground vegetative materials along the roadside, including grass, trees, roots, and topsoil.
Weather permitting, crews will also install a 54-inch irrigation pipe and may begin earthmoving operations at the project’s north end.
Most of the work will occur adjacent to the roadway; however, traffic control will be on-site, speed limits reduced, and shoulder closures in place within the construction zone. Brief, single-lane road closures may be periodically required.
When driving through the active construction site, slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and follow all signs. Your safety is our priority!
