Construction Work: Work on the new westbound river bridge continues. The bridge substructure has been completed! Other westbound bridge work includes steel bridge beam fabrication, erection, and deck formation (after which the deck will be placed).

The new westbound Talen Energy Rail Spur Bridge is being reconstructed. Currently, we are backfilling the arch foundation and installing permanent retaining walls in preparation for arch section setting, which should occur the week of 8/15.

We now have two project camera views, visit: I90 Yellowstone River Project Billings - Project Camera | Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) or SCAN Web 6.0 - Camera.

The new westbound Talen Energy Rail Spur Bridge is being reconstructed. Currently, we are backfilling the arch foundation and installing permanent retaining walls in preparation for arch section setting, which should occur the week of 8/15.

Work on the new westbound river bridge continues with completion of the substructure! Other westbound bridge work includes steel bridge beam fabrication and erection, after which the deck will be placed.

Due to the high-water level and safety concerns for the construction crews, MDT and the construction contractor were not able to ascertain the damage to the work bridge until recently. The project team is currently fixing the work bridge and we will have updates next week. Work on the I 90 westbound bridge continues but minor delays are expected.

Westbound traffic has been detoured through crossovers to a two-way configuration in the eastbound lanes and will remain this way until November 2022. The new westbound lane has limited shoulder because of the temporary concrete barrier in place for your safety and the safety of our work crews. Maintain posted speeds and no stopping or slowing in either lane is advised. Daytime operations are now seven days/week from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. The Jim Dutcher Trail at the Yellowstone River Bridges remains closed due to work below and next to the existing bridges. Please be alert to new traffic patterns and expect short delays!

Restrictions: Width restrictions are in place for loads 13 ft and over. Wide load accommodations and a staging area have been provided, and trucks are being chauffeured through the construction area Monday-Friday, 3:30-5:30 a.m. Freight and wide loads are advised to take an alternate route when possible.
