Traffic Control Update:

  • Night ramp closures: Next week, the Zoo Drive and West Billings Interchange ramps are expected to close between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for bump grinding, a process that helps smooth resurfaced roadways.
  • Shoulder work: Crews will be installing delineators in the shoulder between the Mossmain and West Billings Interchanges next week. Please use caution, follow all posted signage, and be aware of workers near the roadway.

Project Overview

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River are improving Interstate 90 (I 90) from the west bridge ends of the Mossmain Interchange (Exit 437) to the east bridge ends of the West Billings (Exit 446) Interchange. The project will include resurfacing the deteriorated roadway, the addition of roadway safety enhancements, widening the decks of the I 90 bridges over South 56th Street West, resurfacing the remaining I 90 bridge decks, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance upgrades to the West Billings Interchange. The roadway safety enhancements for this project will include new rumble strips, guardrail, concrete median barrier, signage, and pavement markings.
