Proposed Culvert Repair & Replacement US 2 South Of Marion
Marion, MT - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would
like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to
repair/replace 8 culverts on Highway 2, southwest of Marion. The
project begins about 2.5 miles east of McGregor Lane and ends about 6
miles west of the town of Marion.
Proposed work includes
repairing/replacing 8 failing culverts that carry Kelly Creek or
roadside drainage under US 2. In addition, the roadside slopes will
be stabilized and flattened just west of Red Gate Road. The purpose
of the project is to ensure that access, safety, and traffic capacity
needs are maintained on US 2 by eliminating the threat that these
deteriorating culverts could collapse and cause significant damage to
the roadway above.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2022,
depending on completion of design and availability of funds. New
right-of-way construction permits, and relocation of utilities will
be required. MDT Staff will contact landowners prior to construction
regarding temporary construction permits.
An important part of
properly planning for future projects is partnering with the
community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the
public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project.
