Proposed Safety Improvements At 3 Locations Near Billings

Billings, MT - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would
like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to
install safety improvements at three locations near Billings.

Proposed work includes the installation of icy bridge signs with
flashers at two bridge locations on I 94 east of Billings near the
Ballentine and Big Horn River bridges. Additionally, safety signs
with lighting will be installed at the intersection of MT 78 and S
419 near Absarokee. The purpose of the project is to provide safety
improvements to address road departure and intersection crashes at
these sites in the Billings District.

The project is tentatively
scheduled for construction in fall 2021, depending on completion of
all project development activities and availability of funding. No
new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.

An important
part of properly planning for future projects is partnering with the
community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the
public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project.
Comments may be submitted online at or in writing to Montana
Department of Transportation, Billings office at PO Box 20437,
