Proposed Resurfacing Of Highway 86 Near Bozeman

Bozeman, MT - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would
like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to
resurface about 7.5 miles of Highway 86, north of Bozeman. The
project begins about .5 miles north of Bridger Bowl Road, and extends
north for about 7.5 miles ending about .5 miles south of Fairy Creek

Proposed work includes roadway resurfacing, chip sealing, new
pavement markings, and guardrail upgrades. Minor repair and
stabilization of the roadway from instability caused by the settling
of the surface beneath the roadway will also be included in the
project. The purpose of the project is to address pavement distress,
extend the useful life of the existing pavement, and improve safety.

Construction will be scheduled depending on completion of all project
development activities and availability of funding. No new
right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.

An important
part of properly planning for future projects is partnering with the
community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the
public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project.
