Signal Upgrades Begin At Rodney&11th Intersection In Helena

Helena, Montana - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and
Montana Lines, Inc. will begin signal and pedestrian push button
upgrades at the intersection of Rodney St & 11th Ave.

will begin the week of May 24th and work will occur between the hours
of 7 am-10 pm. Crews will start work on the South side of the
intersection. During this time, Rodney St will be closed between 10th
Ave and 11th Ave during scheduled work hours. Pedestrians will be
detoured to the North side of the intersection using Davis and Ewing
streets. Upon completion of the South side, closures will shift to
the North side of the intersection, and Rodney St will be closed
between 11th Ave & 12th Ave. 

During construction, the public can
expect traffic to be reduced to a single-lane, a single-block road
closure on Rodney St, pedestrian detours, and flaggers. Project
completion is anticipated in late-June or early-July, weather

The purpose of this project is to upgrade pedestrian
push buttons at Rodney St & 11th Ave to meet current Americans with
Disabilities (ADA) standards. Improved vehicle detection technology
and high-visibility traffic signal will also be installed. This
project also includes the removal of the decommissioned signal at
Sanders St & 11th Ave.
