Proposed Resurfacing Project For MT 1 Near Philipsburg

Philipsburg, Montana - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT)
would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal
to resurface about 17 miles of Highway 1, north of Philipsburg. The
project begins just north of Sawmill Rd. in Phillipsburg and extends
north ending near Jensen Ranch Lane.

Proposed work for this project
is an asphalt overlay over a six mile stretch of roadway and a chip
seal across the length of the project. Other work will include
pavement painting, new roadway signs, guardrail upgrades, shoulder
rumble strips, and installation of new centerline rumble strips. The
purpose of the project is to take a cost-effective action to prolong
and preserve the existing pavement.

Construction is tentatively
planned for 2025 but could be much sooner depending on completion of
design and availability of funding. No new right-of-way or utility
relocations will be needed.

An important part of properly planning
for future projects is partnering with the community. The Montana
Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and
comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at or in writing to Montana
Department of Transportation, Missoula office at PO Box 7039,
Missoula, MT 59807-7039. Please note that comments are for project
UPN 9864000.

The public is encouraged to contact Missoula District
Administrator Bob Vosen at (406) 523-5802 or Project Design Engineer
Nathaniel Walters at (406) 523- 5833 with questions or comments.
