Proposed Pedestrian Path For Highway 212 West Of Ashland

Ashland, Montana The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT)
would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal
to construct about 1.2 miles of separated pedestrian path along US
212, west of Ashland. The project begins at Rabbittown Road and
extends east for 1.2 miles ending near the intersection of US 212 and
Old Mission Road at reference post 62.1.

Proposed work includes
construction of a separate pedestrian path along the north side of
Highway 212 with lighting and a new pedestrian bridge crossing the
Tongue River. The purpose of the project is to provide a safe
pedestrian facility connecting the residential area at Rabbittown
with Ashland.

Construction is tentatively planned for 2024 depending
on completion of design and availability of funds. New right-of-way
and relocation of utilities may be required. MDT staff will contact
all affected landowners prior to doing survey work on their land.
Staff will again contact landowners prior to construction regarding
property acquisition and temporary construction permits.

important part of properly planning for future projects is partnering
with the community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes
