Proposed Railroad Crossing Improvements At Benton Avenue

Helena  The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to
comment on a proposal to upgrade the railroad pedestrian crossings
and connect Centennial Trail to the new trail constructed on North
Benton Avenue. 

The purpose of this project is to provide
improvements to the pedestrian walkways at the railroad crossing at
Benton Avenue. In addition to connecting Centennial Trail to the
trail on North Benton, the pedestrian improvements will include the
installation of new crossing gates at the railroad crossing and
updates to the existing sidewalks.  

Construction is tentatively
planned for 2023 depending on completion of design and availability
of funds.  

An important part of properly planning for future
projects is partnering with the community. The Montana Department of
Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on
the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at or in writing to Montana
