Pavement Preservation Project, Highway 2 Southeast Browning

Proposed pavement preservation project, Highway 2 southeast of

BROWNING, Montana (September 16, 2020) — The Montana
Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite
the public to comment on a proposal to improve about 9.2 miles of
Highway 2, southeast of Browning. The project begins near the
junction of US-2 and US-89, at reference post 224.6 and extends east
for 9.2 miles ending at reference post 233.8.

Proposed work includes
crack sealing, finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal) and
upgrading signing and pavement markings.  Shoulder rumble strips will
also be re-cut.  The purpose of the project is to extend the life of
the pavement.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction
in 2021, depending on completion of all project development
activities and availability of funding. No new Right-of-Way or
utility relocations will be needed.

An important part of properly
planning for future projects is partnering with the community. The
Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide
ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted
