Pavement Preservation Project For MT-141

Proposed Pavement Preservation Project for MT-141

North of Route 271
and MT-141 Intersection

HELMVILLE, MONTANA (February 7, 2020) The
Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and
invite	the public to comment on a proposal to improve about 5 miles
of Montana Highway 141, northwest of Helmville. The project begins
at the intersection of Secondary Highway 271 and MT-141, at reference
post 27.6 and extends north for 5.1 miles ending at the intersection
of Hwy 200 at reference post 32.7.

Proposed work includes applying a
new overlay and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal), upgraded
pavement marking, signage, and guardrail. The purpose of the project
is to provide a sustainable, cost-effective method of pavement
preservation extending the life of the roadway.

This construction
project will be combined with another identical project on MT-141
that begins near Nevada Lake and ends at the intersection of MT-141
and Secondary Highway 271. The break between 2 projects will be
indistinguishable to the traveling public.

The project is
tentatively scheduled for construction in 2021, depending on
completion of all project development activities and availability of
funding. No new Right-of-Way will be needed.

An important part of
properly planning for future projects is partnering with the
community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the
public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project.
