Pavement Preservation Project For MT-141North Of Nevada Lake

Proposed Pavement Preservation Project for MT-141

North of Nevada
Lake

HELMVILLE, MONTANA (February 7, 2020) The Montana Department
of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public
to comment on a proposal to improve about 8 miles of Montana Highway
141, north of Nevada Lake. The project begins near the intersection
of MT-141 and Lower Braziel Creek Road at reference post 19.9 and
extends northwest for 7.7 miles ending near the junction of MT-141
and Secondary Highway 271 at reference post 27.6.

Proposed work
includes applying a new overlay and finishing with a seal and cover
(chip seal) upgraded pavement marking, signage and guardrail. The
purpose of the project is to provide a sustainable, cost-effective
method of pavement preservation extending the life of the roadway.

This construction project will be combined with another identical
project that begins where this project ends (intersection of
Secondary Highway 271 and Hwy 141) and continues for 5 miles to the
north, terminating at the intersection of MT 141 and Hwy 200. The
break between the 2 projects will be indistinguishable to the
traveling public.

Both projects are tentatively scheduled for
construction in 2021, depending on completion of all project
development activities and availability of funding. No new
Right-of-Way will be needed.

An important part of properly planning
for future projects is partnering with the community. The Montana
Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and
comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at
