Chip Seal Project Planned For Highway 89, Meagher County

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, MONTANA (January 6, 2020)  The Montana
Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite
the public to comment on a proposal to chip seal approximately 25.5
miles of Highway 89, beginning at the junction of Highway 89 and
Highway 12 about 2.4 miles north of White Sulphur Springs.  The
project ends approximately 3 miles south of Showdown Ski area at
reference post 25.5 at the Cascade County line.

Proposed work
includes chip sealing and new pavement markings.  The purpose of the
project is to preserve and increase the life of the pavement, as well
as provide increased traction.	  

The construction date will be
scheduled upon completion of all project development activities and
availability of funding.  No new Right of Way or utility relocations
will be needed.  

An important part of properly planning for future
projects is partnering with the community.  The Montana Department of
Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on
the proposed project.  Comments may be submitted online at or in writing to Montana
