Proposed Resurfacing Project On Highway 89 North Of Monarch

MONARCH, Montana (September 24, 2019) - The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and seek public comment
on a proposal to resurface about 6.91 miles of Highway 89, north of
Monarch. The project begins at the intersection of US 89 and S-427,
at reference post (RP) 53.3 and extends north ending approximately at
RP 60.3.

Proposed work includes an overlay and finishing with a seal
and cover (chip seal), upgraded pavement markings, guardrail upgrades
and new signage.  These improvements will prevent future pavement
deterioration, extend the life of the roadway, provide a friction
course, and improve the safety of the roadway for the traveling

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in
2020, depending on the completion of all project development
activities and availability of funding.

An important part of
properly planning for future projects is partnering with the
community. Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public
to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may
