Proposed Widening Project For US Highway 12 East Of Ingomar

INGOMAR, Montana (September 4, 2019) - The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek
comments on a proposal to widen about five miles of Highway 12,
between Ingomar and Vananda. The project begins at reference post 240
and extends southeast for five miles ending at reference post 245.

Proposed work includes widening the existing roadway shoulders,
flattening grading in-slopes, milling the existing surface, applying
a new overlay, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal),
upgraded pavement marking, and signage. The purpose of the project
is to address an existing run-off-the-road crash trend on this
segment of road.

Construction is tentatively planned for 2021
depending on completion of design and availability of funds. New
right-of-way and relocation of utilities will likely be required.
MDT staff will contact landowners prior to construction regarding
property acquisition and temporary construction permits.

An
important part of properly planning for the future is partnering with
the community. Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the
public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project.
