Montana Department of Transportation to Construct Sidewalk
Improvements in Cascade



CASCADE, Montana. (July 26, 2019)  The
Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the
public of the upcoming construction of new sidewalks and repairs to
existing sidewalks in Cascade.	MDT recently bid and awarded the
construction contract to Missouri River Trucking and Excavating, Inc.
 Construction is anticipated to begin on August 12, 2019 and is
anticipated to last approximately 7 weeks.  



There will be minor
shoulder closures, sidewalk closures, and short-term impacts to
driveways for concrete sidewalk installation.  The contractor will be
notifying the affected residents of driveway impacts in advance of
construction.



The project is along the west side of 3rd Street
between 2nd and 4th Avenues South; along the west side of 2nd Street
between Central Avenue and 4th Avenue South, and along the south side
of 3rd Avenue South between 3rd Street and 1st Street (MT Highway
68).



The work includes approximately 2,500 feet of new sidewalk,
upgraded curb ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Standards, spot replacement of deteriorated sidewalk, retaining
walls, tree trimming, and revegetation. The purpose of the project is
to construct sidewalks to safely route pedestrians to and from the
Cascade School Complex, the Downtown Business District, and
throughout the south side of Cascade.





The project is funded with
Federal Highway Administration Transportation Alternatives funds and
Town of Cascade local matching funds.
