Slide Repair Planned On West Fork Road - CN9780

Darby  The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to
notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to repair a slide
on S-473 (West Fork Road) in Ravalli County about 12 miles southwest
of the Highway 93 junction south of Darby. The project begins about
0.5 miles north of Boulder Creek Road at reference post 12.26 and
extends southerly about 0.3 miles to reference post 12.56.  The
project is within the Bitterroot National Forest.


Proposed work
includes rock scaling, blasting, removal of unstable rock, and rock
bolting.  The purpose of the project is to repair the slide area and
stabilize the slope to reduce the probability of future slides.

Construction is tentatively planned for the fall of 2019, depending
on completion of design and availability of funds.  Relocation of
utilities will be required.
