of Transportation Proposes Resurfacing Project for 1st Avenue Within
Laurel City Limits
LAUREL — The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek
comments on a proposal to seal and cover (chip seal) about 1.02 miles
of 1st Avenue in the City of Laurel.
The project begins just north
of the intersection of 12th Street and 1st Avenue at reference post
0.96 and extends northerly for 1.02 miles, ending at the intersection
of 1st Avenue and Laurel Airport Road at reference post 1.98.
Proposed work includes a chip seal, mill and asphalt overlay of
bridge deck, upgraded pavement markings and new guardrail.
purpose of the project is to preserve and extend the life of the
existing asphalt surfacing and to improve the safety of the roadway
for the traveling public. No new right-of-way or utility relocations
will be needed.
The project is currently outside the 5-year
construction plan; however, should funding become available the
project may be scheduled earlier.
