of Transportation Proposes Design and Construction of New Roberts
Rest Area on U.S. Highway 212
ROBERTS — The Montana Department
of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek
comments on a proposal to reconstruct the Roberts Rest Area on U.S.
Highway 212 (US-212) in Carbon County.
The Roberts Rest Area is
located on US-212 approximately 2 miles northeast of Roberts near
reference post 84.59.
Proposed work includes removal of the existing
facilities and full reconstruction of a new rest area building to
comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements and
Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines. The purpose of the
project is to extend the service life of the rest area in order to
meet current and future demand.
The project is tentatively
scheduled for construction in 2019, depending on completion of all
project development activities and availability of funding and has an
anticipated completion date of May 15, 2020. New right-of-way is not
anticipated but some construction permits may be necessary for the
