Montana Department
of Transportation Schedules Open House to Discuss Reconstruction of
Main Street through Winnett

WINNETT — The Montana Department
of Transportation (MDT) is conducting an open house public meeting to
seek comments on a proposal to reconstruct about 0.8 miles of
Secondary Highway 244 (S-244) through Winnett. 

The open house will
be held in Winnett on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the
basement of the Petroleum County Courthouse (302 E. Main). The
meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a presentation. After the
presentation, the public is invited to visit project displays and
meet with project team members to ask questions and provide comments
on the project.

The project begins on S-244 (Main Street) at the
intersection with Fox Street at reference post 23.9 and extends to
the intersection with Montana Highway 200 (MT-200) at reference post

Proposed work includes full reconstruction of Main Street and
Broadway Avenue from Fox Street to Railroad Street, including curb
and gutter, sidewalk and drainage improvements. The project also
includes mill and overlay of the existing pavement on Broadway Avenue
from Railroad Street to MT-200.  

The purpose of the project is to
provide new roadway and pedestrian facilities that improve mobility,
drainage, and long-term viability of the roadway.
