Traffic Control Update

The traffic signals at the North 7th Street with Pleasant Street intersection are expected to resume normal operations this week. Intermittent closures will continue as sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades progress northward, toward the railroad. Underground utility improvements and grading work are in progress between Hubble Street and Tatro Street.

Business Access Update:

  • The Ugly Mug: Drive-through access has been restored. Feel free to call or text your pickup order to 406-874-8459. Follow them on Facebook for business access updates during construction.
  • Girl Ran Away with a Spoon: Staff plan to reopen the 112 North 7th Street location on Saturday, July 20. The temporary store location at 206 South 5th Street will remain open this week during the transition back to the permanent store.

Project Overview

MDT has partnered with Diamond J Construction to make improvements along North 7th Street/Montana Highway (59), in Miles City. Construction began at the intersection of North 7th Street/MT 59 with Main Street and will continue north for approximately 2 miles, ending just past Secondary Highway 489 (S 489), also known as Kinsey Road.

This project aims to rehabilitate the existing roadway, enhance safety features, and reduce maintenance costs. In addition to the roadway improvements, the city of Miles City is updating the water main, sewer line, and storm drain on the segment of roadway south of the Yellowstone River. This work is being completed in conjunction with the roadway improvements to minimize the impacts to the public.

Improvements include:

  • Reconstruction of the roadway (south of the Yellowstone River bridge).
  • Widening the shoulders and new plant mix surfacing (north of the bridge).
  • New rumble strips (north of the bridge).
  • Replacement of all non-compliant ADA ramps.
  • Upgrades to existing sidewalks and ADA curb ramps.
  • Upgraded pavement markings, signage, and guardrail.
  • City utility improvements to the water main, sewer line, and stormwater management system (south of the bridge).
