Work, including setting bridge beams at the West Fork Gallatin River Bridge, will take place Friday Nov. 21st. This will cause single lane traffic with 15 min. delays at the north end of town for most of the day.

Minor work will continue until the second week of December but it should have little effect on the traveling public.

Traffic is detoured at Swan Creek through Spring, 2009 with 35 mile-per-hour speed limits strictly enforced due to reduced visibility. detour map

Truck traffic in Gallatin Canyon is limited to local deliveries only. Through loads must use Hwy 287.

Local delivery loads over 10.5 ft wide require permits and flaggers at the West Fork Bridge

Wide loads, permitted to make local deliveries, should be moved through the construction area between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

Highway - 191 Gallatin Canyon Public Outreach

Hearings conducted in 2006 in conjunction with the development of the Environmental. Assessment included an official public comment process regarding these projects.

Community Meetings were conducted in June, 2008 to make residents aware of the specific locations where work will take place, the phased project schedule, and how to obtain updated information about traffic and road conditions while construction is in progress. Community liaison and support will be available throughout construction.

Monthly project meetings, which are open to the public, are held every second Tuesday of the month from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Big Sky Water and Sewer at 561 Little Coyote Road, Big Sky, Montana.
