...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM MDT THIS MORNING THROUGH
THURSDAY EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of central and southwest Montana,
including the following areas, in central Montana, Cascade,
Eastern Teton, Fergus, Judith Basin, Meagher and Southern Rocky
Mountain Front. In southwest Montana, Beaverhead, Broadwater,
Central and Southern Lewis and Clark, Gallatin, Jefferson, and
  Madison.

* through Thursday evening.

* River and creek levels are expected to rise this week, causing
an increased concern for flooding across central and southwest
  Montana adjacent to mountains.

* Warm temperatures will cause increased mountain snowmelt, and
showers and thunderstorms may produce heavy rain at times. The
combined runoff will then flow into the river and creek basins.

* Some waterways may reach bankfull or flow out of their banks by
Thursday, causing flooding of fields and low-lying areas.

* Some river gauge points have already exceeded flood stage, but
others may reach flood stage by Thursday, including, but not
  limited to:

	Missouri River at Toston...
	Tenmile Creek near Helena...
Sun River near both Simms and Vaughn...
	and Badger Creek.

* This Watch may need to be extended to cover the potential for
continued flooding through the holiday weekend.

* At a minimum, rivers and creeks will likely run high, fast, and
cold into the holiday weekend, which may make for dangerous
conditions if you are planning outdoor activities near them. Be
  prepared to make alternate plans.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
