WIBAUX The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would
like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to widen

(MT-7) south of Wibaux in Wibaux County.

The project begins
approximately 13 miles south of Wibaux at reference post 67.5 and
extends north for approximately 5.2 miles, ending at reference post

Proposed work includes widening shoulders to 4 feet, slope
flattening, replacement of two timber bridges with box culverts to
eliminate guardrail, possible realignment of Saint Phillip Road to
tie in at a better angle to MT-7 and updating curve and chevron

The purpose of the project is to address crash clusters
along this section of road around the horizontal curves.

project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2021, depending
on completion of all project development activities and availability
of funding.

The project will be tied for construction with the
Wibaux South project that will include a seal and cover (chip seal)
along approximately 24.4 miles of MT-7, which includes the limits of
this 5.2-mile project.

New right-of-way and relocation of utilities
may be required. MDT staff will contact all potentially affected
landowners prior to performing survey work on their land. Staff will
again contact landowners prior to construction regarding property
acquisition and temporary construction permits.
