Montana Department
of Transportation Rouse Avenue Reconstruction Project Set to Begin
with Removal of Trees

BOZEMAN  The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) is planning to begin tree removal prior to
letting a project for bid that will reconstruct and widen
approximately 0.8 miles of Rouse Avenue from Main Street to Oak
Street at reference marker 0.8. 

The project is tentatively planned
for letting in 2019, with construction beginning the same year. Prior
to the reconstruction, tree removal will begin in 2018 around the
week of March 12 to accommodate the relocation of underground

The project includes the reconstruction and widening of
the roadway throughout the corridor, intersection improvements with
turn lanes, the addition of bike lanes, sidewalks, and a two-way left
turn lane to improve safety and level-of-service, side-street
improvements at intersections to accommodate turning movements, and
storm drainage improvements. The purpose of the project is to improve
traffic flow and enhance bike and pedestrian travel within the Rouse
Avenue corridor.
