of Transportation Proposes Safety Project on the Bridges Over Clark
Fork River on Interstate 90 West of Bonner
BONNER — The Montana
Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public
and seek comments on a proposal to improve the safety of the
eastbound and westbound bridges over the Clark Fork River and Juniper
Drive located on Interstate 90 approximately 1 mile west of Bonner in
Missoula County. The bridges are located at reference post 109.41 and
the project will extend approximately 600 feet from each bridge end.
Proposed work includes bridge deck and joint repair, placement of a
high-friction wearing surface, and upgrading the existing “icy
bridge” signs. The purpose of the project is to reduce crashes on
these bridges and extend the life of the structures.
The project is
tentatively scheduled for construction in 2019, depending on
completion of all project development activities and available
funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
