of Transportation Proposes Resurfacing Project on Montana Highway 3
BILLINGS — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like
to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to resurface
about 11.6 miles of Montana Highway 3 northwest of Billings in
Yellowstone County. The project begins near Acton at reference post
16.4 and extends northwest for 11.6 miles, ending south of Broadview
at reference post 28.0.
Proposed work includes crack filling,
applying a new overlay, and a seal and cover (chip seal). The project
will also receive centerline and shoulder rumble strips, upgraded
pavement markings and signage.
The purpose of the project is to
preserve and extend the life of the existing asphalt surfacing to
provide a safe roadway for the traveling public. No new right-of-way
or utility relocations will be needed.
The project is tentatively
scheduled for construction in 2018, depending on completion of all
project development activities and availability of funding.
