Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Highway Rehabilitation Project for Montana
Highway 200 Northeast of Richey

RICHEY The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek
comments on a proposal to rehabilitate about 10.6 miles of Montana
Highway 200 northeast of Richey in Dawson and Richland counties. The
project begins in Dawson County at the junction with Secondary
Highway 254 at reference post 27.8 and extends northeast for 10.6
miles, ending about a quarter mile west of the intersection with
Richland County Road 126 at reference post 38.4.

Proposed work
includes reconstruction of several sections of road to address poor
roadway geometry, rehabilitating the existing pavement, widening the
roadway to include 2-foot shoulders, slope flattening, new plant mix
surfacing, installing rumble strips and finishing with a seal and
cover (chip seal), upgraded pavement marking, signage and guardrail.
The purpose of the project is to provide a safer roadway and reduce
maintenance costs.

A target construction date will be determined
upon completion of design activities and as funding becomes
available. New right-of-way and relocation of utilities may be
required. MDT staff will contact all potentially affected landowners
prior to performing survey work on their land. Staff will again
contact landowners prior to construction regarding property
acquisition and temporary construction permits.
