Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Reconstruction of Grant Creek Road at
Intersection with Interstate 90 Westbound Ramps on North Side of
Reserve Street Interchange

MISSOULA The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek
comments on a proposal to reconstruct Grant Creek Road at the
intersection with the Interstate 90 (I-90) westbound ramps on the
north side of the Reserve Street Interchange.

The project includes
upgrades to the American With Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps and
traffic signals at this intersection as well as the intersection of
Reserve Street and the I-90 eastbound ramps on the south side of the
Reserve Street Interchange and at the intersection of Reserve Street
and Expressway / Howard Raser Avenue.

Proposed work includes
reconfiguring Grant Creek Road on the north side of the intersection
with the I-90 westbound ramps. The width of the existing raised
median will be reduced to create space for an additional southbound
through lane in addition to the existing southbound through lane on
Grant Creek Road. This lane configuration will match the two existing
southbound through lanes on the south side of the intersection. A
southbound right-turn lane for vehicle access onto the I-90 westbound
entrance ramp will also be added with a striped southbound bicycle
lane located between the right-turn lane and the southbound through
lanes.

ADA upgrades and traffic signal upgrades including flashing
yellow arrow indications, new controller cabinets, reflective traffic
signal borders, accessible pedestrian signals, and detection
equipment will be completed at the three intersections.

The project
is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2019, depending on
completion of all project development activities and availability of
funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
