Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Project to Resurface Interstate 90 from
West Billings Interchange to Pinehills Interchange

BILLINGS The
Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the
public and seek comments on a proposal to resurface about 10.15 miles
of Interstate 90 (I-90).

The project begins at the West Billings
Interchange at reference post 446.16 at the east ends of the bridge
and extends east for 10.15 miles, ending just west of the Pinehills
Interchange at reference post 456.31.

Proposed work includes milling
and paving the driving and passing lanes from the West Billings
Interchange to the South 27th Street Interchange and then from the
Lockwood Interchange to the Pinehills Interchange. Interchange ramps
and crossroads will be milled and paved within the I-90 right-of-way
except for the Johnson Lane crossroad. A seal and cover (chip seal)
will be performed over the entire project. The project includes
upgraded pavement markings, signage, delineation, guardrail, and
concrete barrier rail.

The purpose of the project is to extend the
service life of the highway and take a cost-effective action to
preserve and maintain the existing highway.

The project is
tentatively scheduled for construction in 2019, depending on
completion of all project development activities and availability of
funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
