Lewistown - Culvert Replacement Proposed For Three Counties

Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Project to Replace Culverts in Golden
Valley, Fergus, and Phillips Counties

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify
the public and seek comments on a proposal to remove and replace
three culverts. Each culvert project is located in one of three
counties within MDT’s Billings District, as described below:

1) The
culvert in Golden Valley County is located 4 miles west of Ryegate on
U.S. Highway 12 at reference post 125.25. Proposed work at this
location includes installing a liner to the existing outer sections
and installing rip rap at both the inlet and outlet of the culvert.

2) The culvert in Fergus County is located 4.5 miles northeast of
Denton on Secondary Highway 547 at reference post 4.09. Proposed work
at this location is replacement of the culvert.

3) The culvert in
Phillips County is located 4.3 miles south of DY Junction on U.S.
Highway 191 at reference post 97.96. The proposed work at this
location includes installing a liner in the existing culvert.

purpose of this project is to rehabilitate or replace existing
culverts to provide a safe roadway for the traveling public.

Construction is tentatively planned for 2018 depending on completion
of design and availability of funds. New right-of-way and relocation
of utilities may be required. MDT staff will contact all potentially
affected landowners prior to performing survey work on their land.
Staff will again contact landowners prior to construction regarding
property acquisition and temporary construction permits.
