of Transportation Proposes Study on Operational Improvements on
Montana Highway 40 Near Whitefish
WHITEFISH — The Montana Department
of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek
comments on a proposal to study operational improvements on a segment
of Montana Highway 40 (MT-40) in Flathead County. The study will
begin at the intersection of MT-40 and U.S. Highway 93 and extend
easterly 2.6 miles to reference post 2.6, about 0.1 mile east of the
intersection with Dillon Road and Conn Road.
The study will evaluate
options for surfacing rehabilitation and options for operational
improvements that may include widening to provide a two-way left-turn
lane and widening for right-turn-only lanes at selected
intersections. The results of the study may lead to a design project
that would develop plans for a future construction project.
study is currently scheduled to be completed in late 2019.
