Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Safety Improvements on Reserve Street in
Missoula

MISSOULA The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT)
would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to
install centerline concrete barrier rail for about 0.5 miles across
the Reserve Street Bridge over the Clark Fork River in Missoula. The
project begins north of the intersection with River Road at reference
post 2.8 and extends north for 0.5 miles, ending south of the
intersection with Mullan Road at reference post 3.3.

Proposed work
includes concrete bridge deck repair, a high-friction surface
treatment, and installing centerline concrete barrier rail and
upgraded pavement markings. The purpose of the project is to address
potential head-on and sideswipe opposite-direction collisions.

The
project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2018, depending
on completion of all project development activities and availability
of funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be
needed.
