Chester - Reconstruction Project Slated For Whitlash Road

MDT proposes a reconstruction project for six miles of Whitlash Road
near Chester, MT in Liberty County
Chester - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like
to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to rebuild
approximately six miles of Secondary 409, locally known as Whitlash
Road, west of Chester, MT, in Liberty County. The project begins at
the intersection with U.S. Highway 2 (reference post 0.00) and
proceeds north for six miles, ending at the intersection with 2800
Rd. S. (reference post 6.00).
Proposed work includes grading, gravel, plant mix surfacing, seal and
cover, pavement markings, signing, and culvert replacement.
Adjustments to turning lanes on U.S. Highway 2 will be considered.
The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2018
depending on completion of all project development activities and
availability of funding.
The project may require new right-of-way and relocation of utilities.
MDT staff will contact all affected landowners prior to construction
regarding property acquisition and temporary construction permits.
