Civil Engineering Technician

This position requires extensive travel and workdays usually longer than 8 hours. Varied shifts can be expected. Typically 40-hour work weeks will be offered but not guaranteed. Overtime or compensatory time may be available. Duties of Position Include: Independently travel to pre-determined traffic monitoring site, install vehicle detectors on roadway surface or roadside structures based on established specifications. Operate solid-state micro-processing traffic recorders and video equipment to monitor and collect traffic volumes, vehicle types, vehicle speeds, and any other information pertaining to vehicle travel or use of highway facilities. Maintain assigned state vehicle to ensure it is serviced using a strict preventive maintenance schedule and perform daily vehicle safety checks. Work safely on and near high volume, high speed traffic. Retrieve count files from equipment and transfer the data to the Helena office for review and uploading .
