CTEP: Program Details

Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) Act , signed into law by President Bush in August 2005, continues the Federal commitment to fund transportation-related community amenities as part of the Federal Surface Transportation Program. The Community Transportation Enhancement Program (CTEP) administered by the Montana Department of Transportation, (MDT), has brought many exciting projects to communities across the State. SAFETEA-LU provides approximately $5 million annually to Montana for Transportation Enhancement Program activities.

Federal Requirements
Transportation Enhancement Program funds are available on a reimbursable basis for a broad array of projects. Because Transportation Enhancement Program funds are Federal funds, projects must conform to Federal requirements. These include United States Code, Title 23 Code of Federal Regulations, the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 and amendments, Davis-Bacon wage rates and Minority Business Enterprise requirements. MDT's CTEP Bureau offers information and technical assistance to applicants to meet these requirements.
