MDT To Replace Culvert East Of Baker On Hwy 12

Baker, Montana - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would
like to announce a plan to replace a culvert east of Baker on Highway
12. The culvert is located at reference post 86.0, two miles
southeast of Baker, just beyond the railroad overpass structure.

This project is being developed as an exigency/high priority project
to replace a large metal culvert in very poor condition with a 10-ft.
by 10-ft. concrete box culvert. The function of the pipe is to carry
seasonal runoff under Highway 12 to Sandstone Creek. Traffic will be
maintained during construction through stage construction (half at a
time) of the culvert replacement or by using an alternate route along
local county roads around the site to expedite construction.

The
project is expected to be constructed in late Fall of 2021, depending
on completion of all project development activities and the
contractors ability to secure the materials prior to winter
shutdown.

No new Right-of-Way or utility relocations will be needed.
