Chip Seal Project Planned For US Highway 12/287
Chip seal project planned for US highway 12/287 – Broadwater County
WINSTON, MONTANA (December 18, 2019) — The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to
comment on the proposal to chip seal about 10 miles of US Highway
12/287, east of East Helena. The project begins at the existing four
lane at reference post 58.0, just north of Jimmy Green Road, and
extends southeasterly for 9.9 miles, ending on the Townsend Flats,
south of Winston at reference post 68.0.
Proposed work includes chip
sealing, new pavement markings, roadside signage, rumble strips, and
minor tree clearing. The purpose of the project is to preserve and
increase the service life of the pavement and provide safety upgrades
for the traveling public.
The construction date will be scheduled
upon on completion of all project development activities and
availability of funding. No new Right of Way or utility relocations
will be needed
for this project.

planning for future projects is partnering with the community. The
