Buckle Up Before You Hit the Road

November 16, 2022

Thanksgiving weekend is historically one of the busiest travel times of the year. Unfortunately, this can also mean more roadway crashes. Whether you are travelling across town or across the country to spend time with family and friends, buckle up and remind others to do the same, and always have a sober driver.

From 2016 to 2020, almost half (47%) of the vehicle occupants who died in a crash were not wearing or were improperly wearing a vehicle restraint. Sadly, these people will not join their loved ones at the Thanksgiving table this year. Remember, even one empty seat at the table due to a death on our roadways is too many.

Seat belts are the single most effective traffic safety device in preventing fatalities and serious injuries in vehicles today. In the event of a crash, the risk of a moderate to critical injury is reduced by half when occupants are wearing a seat belt. Remind yourself and your loved ones to always buckle up - every person, every trip, EVERY TIME.
