of Transportation Proposes Safety Enhancement Project on Interstate
and Roadway Sections in Cascade County
GREAT FALLS — The Montana
Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public
and seek comments on a proposal to update signing and delineation in
The project locations are as follows:
(Interstate 15 north of Cascade): Install panel delineation on the
outside southbound shoulder from reference post (RP) 255.7 to RP
Site 2 (Lower River Road south of Great Falls): Install
jersey rail delineation from RP 0.3 to RP 0.7 and guard rail
delineation from RP 0.7 to RP 1.1. Install panel delineation on the
inside and standard delineation on the outsides of the northern-most
and southern-most curves.
Site 3 (13th Street South): Install
standard delineation from RP 1.5 to RP 3.8.
Site 4 (McIver Road west
of Great Falls): Install advanced curve warning signs and chevrons
for three curves from RP 6.8 to RP 7.4.
Proposed work includes
upgrading signage and delineation. The purpose of the projects is to
address road departure crashes.
The project is tentatively scheduled
for construction in 2019, depending on completion of all project
development activities and availability of funding. No new
right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
