Meet Justin Willcut, Network Systems Analyst, family man, and outdoor enthusiast. When Justin isn't in the office, you will frequently find him enjoying fishing, hunting and camping excursions with his wife and two little children.

Born and raised in Kalispell, Justin moved to Helena to work for MDT. "I applied at MDT because I like the Helena area," says a smiling Willcut. He also likes the good pay, schedule flexibility, and significant training opportunities MDT provides.

As a Network Systems Analyst, Justin is responsible for new product research and process documentation, as well as software support, repackaging and automated installation. A typical day is both varied and interesting. "I test and prepare software for installation, provide general support for end users, maybe attend a meeting, then test new demo software."

According to Willcut, the job demands continuous learning: "There's always something new to learn. There are always new challenges."

When we asked Justin what it takes to excel in this line of work, he ranked patience and flexibility high on his list. "You need to be flexible to find solutions to problems," he explains. Good troubleshooting skills and the ability to set priorities and multitask amid frequent interruptions are also essential.

While Justin's focus is primarily on information technology, his work does bring him into contact with the organization at large. "Before coming to MDT, I hadn't thought much about the different things that MDT does. It's really interesting to learn about road construction and maintenance and all the different groups that make those things happen."

In closing, we asked Justin what he likes best about the job. He starts with the people in his division. "The employees in ISD are great to work with." Justin also appreciates MDT's interest in his career goals. He explains, "I feel I can have some input as to the direction of my future here."

An interesting job, opportunities to learn, good people to work with, and a supportive work environment—now that sounds like a great job. Thanks Justin!
