Summary

FTA Motor Fuel Tax Section Chair, Wilda Ice, from the West Virginia Department of Tax and Revenue, the Montana Department of Transportation and Members of the FTA Board of Trustees, extend a cordial invitation to attend the 2010 Annual Meeting of the FTA Motor Fuel Tax Section.

The conference will begin with registration and an opening reception Sunday, September 12. Monday and Tuesday will be devoted to general sessions in the morning, with breakout sessions scheduled in the afternoon. Wednesday morning will include a general session with various topics of interest to motor fuel tax administrators. Regional meetings will be held Monday afternoon, and the Annual Business Meeting will be held Tuesday afternoon. The annual banquet will be held Tuesday evening, September 14.

Conference Program

The conference program consists of a mix of general session and concurrent breakout sessions presenting different topics of interest to state motor fuel tax administrators. They include: Movement of Fuel by Rail and Barge, Mileage Base Fee, Alternative Fuels such as GDiesel, Renewal Fuels and Future Fuels. For more information see the agenda.

Social Events

Adventure awaits you in Montana! Begin your adventure Sunday, September 12, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm with an opening reception at the Great Northern Hotel in beautiful downtown Helena. Welcoming you will be a variety of hors d’oeuvres and beverages along with your friendly Montana hosts.

Also at the Great Northern Hotel, a Montana style banquet will be hosted on Tuesday, September 14, featuring a delicious meal and excellent entertainment. You may even learn a little Montana history while you are here. Reception begins at 6:00pm and banquet begins at 7:00pm.

Optional Activity Planned

You do not want to miss this! A dinner and cruise on the Missouri River at the Gates of the Mountains 20 miles north of Helena will take you on a journey of a lifetime. A deluxe motor coach will pick you up at the hotel and deliver you to the Gates of the Mountains on the shores of the Missouri River. Waiting for you at the dock will be a new 100 passenger boat with all the amenities to guide you through breathtaking and unforgettable scenery. After touring the beautiful Gates, the boat will dock five miles upriver at the Meriwether Campground for dinner. On the menu is barbequed baron of beef, potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, rolls, ice tea, lemonade, and dessert. After dinner, the boat will return you to the dock where the motor coach will be waiting to take you safely back to the Great Northern Hotel. Do not forget your camera or your warm jacket. Transportation

The Best Western Helena Great Northern Hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to and from the Airport in Helena. Parking at the hotel is complimentary.

Climate

Helena’s average temperature in September hits the mid 60’s, but Montana weather is very unpredictable. September is Montana is normally warm and beautiful, but we may also have rain or snow. Follow the lead of the Boy and Girl Scouts and "Be Prepared".

Dress

As usual, dress for the conference is business casual. Feel free to wear your jeans and other western attire for the receptions and banquet.

The 2010 Motor Fuel Tax Section Annual meeting promises to be an educational and enjoyable one.
